General description of the collection: The Ray B. Silton photograph collection includes copies of U.S. Army Signal Corps photos that captain Silton acquired during his service in WWII in the Pacific Theater. The subject of the photographs is entirely on the XI Corps in the Pacific Theater, including, among other things, the 31st and 32nd Infantry Divisions. The bulk of the photos are from mid-September, 1944 and show scenes of the invasion of Morotai Island in the Halmahera Group. There is nothing in this collection from any other part of general Silton's career.
